Este foi o primeiro ebook que eu solicitei no site Net Galley, e não estava esperando muito da estória, talvez porque a capa do livro seja feia (sim, eu cometo o erro de julgar livros pela capa) ou porque a sinopse não seja muito empolgante (pelo menos não para mim). Mas o fato é que eu apenas solicitei esse ebook porque achei que não teria problemas em conseguir a aprovação da editora.

Mas acabou que o livro me surpreendeu de uma maneira positiva. A estória não é uma obra-prima nem nada, mas não não posso negar que a leitura do livro foi leve e gostosa. Shayla narra sua estória de uma forma rápida e eficiente, sem se perder em descrições que não servem para nada.

Para o estranhamento de muitos, a verdadeira vilã aparece só no finalzinho do livro. E é junto com ela que aparece um aspecto que pode não agradar a todos: a vilã não consegue passar a maldade de uma maneira eficiente. É como se ela fosse má, mas não tão má assim... Mas isso não faz com que a estória seja prejudicada, já que ela não requer um vilão que seja o demônio em pessoa nem nada disso.

Se eu tivesse que escolher uma palavra apenas para descrever a estória, seria “bonitinha”. Como eu disse anteriormente, o livro não é nenhuma obra-prima, mas cumpre com maestria o trabalho de entreter e divertir a pessoa que o está lendo.

Torero escreve de uma maneira fácil e direta, por isso recomendo o livro para aqueles que estão recém começando a ler em inglês. Mas aqueles que já o fazem com maestria também poderão gostar, assim como eu gostei. Recomendo.

This was my first request on Net Galley, and I wasn't expecting much from the story, perhaps bacause the book cover is ugly (yes, I judge books by their covers), or because the synopsis isn't that exciting (at least not to me). But the fact is that I've requested this ebook just because I thought I wouldn't have problems in getting it approved.

But the book surprised me in a positive way. The story isn't a masterpiece, but I can't deny the reading experience was light and good. Shayla relates her story in such a fast and efficient way, without making useless descriptions.

To the amazement of many readers, the real villain appears just in the end of the book. And along with her also appears an aspect that may dissatisfy some: the villain can't show her wickedness in an efficient way. It is like she was wicked, but not that wicked... But this doesn't damage the story, since it does not need a villain who is the devil in person.

I could describe the story in one word: cute. Like I said before, the book isn't any masterpiece, but it does entertain the person who's reading it.

Torero writes in an easy, direct way, and because of that I recomend this book for those who are just beginning to read in English. But those who already master it may also enjoy it, like I did.
